Hytale Update Breakdown: Cosmetics, Farming, Worldgen And Servers

This update is packed with lots of quality of life changes, fresh cosmetics, balance tweaks and some serious upgrades for server owners. If you are into styling your character, building farms, theorycrafting tools or even running your own community server, there is something in here for you.
Let us walk through the patch in normal human language so you do not have to decode every single bullet point yourself.
Fresh Cosmetics And Avatar Customization
Character style got a big glow up.
New face and head options
You now get several new ways to make your avatar look more unique or cursed, depending on your mood:
- Bandit Mask with a side knot variant
- Blindfold with a thicker variant
- Bandage blindfolds with options for both eyes, left eye only or right eye only
- New mouths: Vampire Mouth, Cute Mouth, Orc Mouth
On top of that, fantasy cotton cosmetics now support a white color option, so you can finally match some outfits that looked slightly off before.
Updated hairstyles
Several haircuts got visual polish, so they look cleaner and more modern:
- Single Side Pigtail
- Hair Stick Bun
- Simple Bobcut
- Fighter Buns
- Smart Elven
- Windswept
These are not completely new hairstyles, but they should look much better in screenshots and close ups now.
Armor visibility toggles
Big win for people who care about fashion and for servers that care about immersion.
- You can now toggle the visibility of individual armor slots directly in the character panel. This means you can hide certain armor pieces while still getting their stats.
- Server hosts can choose to disable or enable this feature. For example, PvP servers might force armor to always be visible, while roleplay servers may allow hidden armor for aesthetic reasons.
Better cape animations
Capes now move more naturally when you run. It is a small touch, but it makes characters feel more alive and less stiff.
Gameplay And Balance Changes
This update also tweaks how tools, mobs and some crafting work.
New necromancy style item
A new item has been added that lets you raise skeletal minions from nearby bone piles.
- It has a chance to drop from the large Praetorian Skeleton.
- If you like summoner or necromancer type builds, this is something you will want to hunt down.
Mining and pickaxe progression
Mining has been rebalanced to make tool progression feel more meaningful.
- Adamantite now requires at least a Thorium or Cobalt pickaxe to mine.
- Lower tier pickaxes do much less damage to high tier ore blocks.
- Upgrading your pickaxe now reduces the number of hits required by a lot, so moving up a tier actually feels like a big power spike instead of just a tiny improvement.
In short, you cannot just brute force late game ores with trash tools anymore, and upgrading your pickaxe matters more.
Polar bears and other mob changes
- Polar Bears have been buffed. They should feel more dangerous and relevant now.
- The Magma Toad has been reworked a bit:
- Tongue damage has been significantly reduced.
- It now alternates between its Tongue attack and a new Headbutt ability.
So Magma Toads should feel less unfair but a bit more interesting to fight.
New decorative lights and cloth options
- More decorative light recipes are available at the furniture bench, giving builders more options for cozy bases and atmospheric builds.
- Petals are now craftable in the furniture bench under the Textiles category:
- Yellow Petals can be farmed from Sunflower Seeds, so petals are now renewable.
- All crafting requirements for the different colored Petals are renewable resources.
- Lighter variants of each Cloth Block can now be crafted using Petals, which gives you more color variety for building and decorating.
World Generation Updates
World generation got a serious under the hood upgrade.
WorldGen V2 support
- WorldGen V2 is now prepared for public documentation, which is especially nice for modders who want to make custom worlds or tweak generation.
- New templates using WorldGen V2:
Default_FlatDefault_Void
These give creators clean starting points for flat worlds and pure void worlds.
Creative Hub and flat worlds
- The Creative Hub Portal now spawns using the WorldGen V2 flat world settings.
- This setup also forces clear weather and limited fog for a cleaner creative building experience.
- Note: this only applies to new creative worlds.
Ore placement refactor
Ore placement has been heavily reworked in all zones.
- You will need to explore new chunks in existing worlds to see this change.
- There are now more ores overall, especially in Devastated Lands underground areas.
If you enjoy mining routes or speed progressing a new world, this will change the way you explore caves and plan your resource runs.
Farming: Safer Crops And Better Tools
Farming should now feel less fragile and more rewarding.
Eternal crops are safer
- Eternal crops no longer break from accidental weapon damage, which means no more destroying your expensive crops because you spam clicked at a mob.
- Breaking fully grown Eternal crops now returns their Seeds, so you can replant without losing progress.
Soil and harvesting improvements
- Tilled soil now lasts longer, between about 1.2 and 1.5 in game days.
- Soil decay underneath fully grown crops has been fixed.
- You can now hold torches in your offhand while using a Hoe or Seeds, which makes night time farming much easier.
- Harvested crops can now be placed on the ground if you crouch. Great for decoration or for making markets and storage rooms look more alive.
Hoe tiers and crafting adjustments
Hoe recipes and unlock levels have been rebalanced:
- Hoes now unlock at different farming bench tiers instead of being stacked strangely late.
- Copper Hoe is now Tier 2 instead of Tier 4.
- Iron Hoe is now Tier 4 instead of Tier 8.
- Thorium Hoe has been added at Tier 6.
So farming tools now scale in a more logical way with your general progression.
UI And UX Improvements
The interface got a lot of love, both for builders and regular players.
Better tooltips and color info
- Editor block tooltip descriptions have been improved, which should make building and editing less confusing.
- In the Avatar Customization menu, hovering over a color now shows the color name in the tooltip, so picking the exact shade is easier.
Hotbar and map clarity
- The active hotbar slot is now easier to see thanks to higher contrast and a diamond indicator, which helps a lot in bright areas like the Howling Sands.
- Player markers have been improved:
- They now show on the compass.
- The "Player:" prefix on map markers has been removed.
- Player names always render on the map.
- There are toggle buttons in the player list for map and compass visibility.
- Players at different height levels show different icons on the compass with up or down indicators.
Inventory quality of life
Inventory interactions should feel smoother now.
- Double clicking is more forgiving and works better even if you click faster.
- Shift + click on armor now directly equips it if the slot is empty.
- New keybinds have been added for quick actions in the inventory:
- Q, E, R, T handle actions like put all, pull all, quickstack and sort.
- These shortcuts are shown in the tooltip when you hover over buttons like "Sort Items By Type (T)".
FPS counter and accessibility
- There is a new FPS counter overlay option under
General > User Interface. Once enabled, your current FPS is displayed in the top right corner. - A new Ophidiophobia accessibility mode exists under
Gameplay > Accessibility.- This turns Snake models into Hatworms, which is a big help if snakes really bother you or trigger anxiety.
Audio And Visual Touch Ups
A few small but nice polish changes:
- All missing basic Rex sounds have been added, so the creature feels more complete.
- The sound for dragging or dropping bone items in the inventory has been updated.
- A bug in one of the Howling Sands cave music tracks has been fixed.
- All food particle tints have been updated for a more consistent look when eating or interacting with food.
Servers, Stability And Lots Of Fixes
Server owners and technical players get some powerful new tools in this update.
New server auto update system
Servers can now automatically check for, download and apply updates with a new system:
- A new
UpdateModulecore plugin is integrated into the server boot process. - Servers can:
- Check for updates
- Download updates
- Apply them later or automatically
- Notify players when updates are coming or happening
There is also a new UpdateConfig in HytaleServerConfig with settings for:
- Enabling or disabling automatic updates
- How often to check for updates
- Notification preferences
- Which patch line to track
- Backup options
- Auto apply modes
There is even a dedicated shutdown reason, ShutdownReason.UPDATE, to show when the server is restarting to apply a staged update.
New /update commands and detailed server messages give admins more control over how and when updates happen, and players get clear warnings when a restart is coming.
The release workflow has also been updated to include launcher scripts like start.sh and start.bat, which makes starting and managing servers a bit easier, especially on fresh setups.
General bug fixes and technical improvements
A ton of small but important issues have been fixed, including:
- Shadow rendering issues have been improved.
- Middle click "pick block" in creative now behaves better when the hotbar is full. If your inventory is full, it replaces your current slot with the new block instead of just failing.
- The Asset Editor now displays documentation inside its tooltips.
- Mantling detection bugs have been fixed to avoid weird climbing or movement behaviors.
- Cleared keybinds now stay cleared across sessions.
- Weather transitions have been smoothed out to avoid sudden visual jumps.
- Teleporters now apply an offset to help prevent accidental collisions when you arrive.
- Rail carts now consume correctly and place as expected.
- Bed respawning in unloaded chunks has been fixed, along with chunk collision checks that used to fail if there were no loaded chunks.
- Major improvements have been made in server stability, validation, ECS, localization and timeout handling.
- Refilling containers now targets the closest water block instead of requiring awkward aiming below or behind a water source.
- Some items no longer show oversized placement previews.
- The Berserker haircut texture tiling issue has been fixed.
- Glasses no longer inherit cosmetic colors on their lens highlights.
- Map teleporting now has proper permissions, which stops players from sending packets to teleport anywhere they want without operator privileges.
- Emerald Wilds dungeons and other environments have been fixed, and you might hear new soundtracks there.
- Player marker updates are not sent while the map is closed, and flickering when hovering markers has been fixed.
- Other players names are more readable when you are zoomed in on the map.
Thinking About Hosting Your Own World?
With features like server auto updates, better permissions and stronger stability, this is a really good time to think about running a community server with your friends or even a public world for others to join.
If you already run a server or plan to start one, you can make it much easier for players to discover it by listing it on HytaleServerList.me. Whether you are building a relaxed survival world or a sweaty competitive environment, there is room for all kinds of setups.
For example, if you are planning intense battles that make use of these new balance tweaks and visibility rules, you can tag your world as a PvP focused server so the right players find you faster. Check out the PvP section here:
