Hytale Update 4 Part 3 – Proximity Voice Chat Is Coming!

Hytale Update 4 Part 3 is now available via the Pre-Release launcher. This update focuses on proximity voice chat, avatar customizations, potion changes, new tools, and world improvements. Players and server owners listed on a Hytale server list will notice updates affecting communication, crafting, farming, and overall multiplayer experience.

Proximity Voice Chat

The long-awaited proximity voice chat is finally here! This feature allows players to talk to others in-game with realistic distance-based audio.

  • Voice chat is disabled by default and can be enabled in Audio Settings.
  • New console commands are available: .voice for client and /voice for servers.
  • Players can adjust input device, input level, noise suppression, and choose Push-to-Talk if preferred.
  • Audio fades with distance and reacts to environment; submerged or reverberant areas will slightly change how you sound.
  • Talking animates your avatar, and players in range are displayed with current activity indicators.

This feature is a major addition for social hubs, minigames like Friendslop, and multiplayer interactions. Servers using these features will feel more alive and connected.

Avatar & Cosmetics

Hytale adds new options to keep your character unique:

  • 7 new hairstyles: Afro, Big Afro, Frizzy Buns, Long Dreadlocks, Puffy Twin Dreads, Dreads Fade, Star Puffs
  • 3 updated hairstyles: Puffy Bubble Braids, Afro Puffs, Puffy Bun

These cosmetic updates improve social gameplay and give players more ways to express themselves on creative and roleplay servers. Players will find it easier to customize avatars, showcase their style, and enjoy interactions with others in multiplayer environments.

Items & Equipment

Potions and crafting received a major overhaul:

  • Decorative Potions added in Blue, Green, Iridescent, Pink, Purple, and Orange.
  • All consumable potions now use Potion_Template and have item quality levels.
  • Potion crafting has been rebalanced, including Health, Stamina, and Energy Potions.
  • Health Potions restore variable percentages instantly and over time, with adjusted stack sizes.
  • Stamina and Energy Potions now restore amounts instantly, with faster consumption to match default regeneration.
  • Copper and Iron Sickles added, craftable at the Farming Workbench, can be swung continuously.
  • Pink Crystal Shards and new Crystal Shard resources added.
  • Gold Ingots can now be converted to Gold Bricks at the Builder's Workbench.
  • New crops and crafting materials added for Blood, Storm, and Azure plants, requiring Crystal Fertilizer.

These changes improve farming, crafting, and resource management on modded, SMP, and survival servers, giving players more control over their resources and gameplay strategies.

World & Blocks

  • Removed Farming Bench Tiers 9 and 10
  • Added Tiers 3, 4, and 5 to the Alchemy Bench
  • Zone 1 Plains biome weather updated; fireflies appear more regularly
  • World-gen Prop system overhauled with modular features replacing monolithic ones

These improvements help servers maintain better performance and more dynamic environments.

Entities & Encounters

  • NPCs now spawn death particles and drop items upon defeat.
  • Temple Golems now drop their gem type:
    • Earth → Emeralds, Flame → Rubies, Frost → Sapphires, Sand → Zephyrs, Thunder → Topazes
  • Conditional entity effects allow effects to be applied or removed dynamically.
  • Combat Action Evaluator updated with a non-scaled switch response curve, improving combat behavior.

These changes impact both combat encounters and adventure gameplay.

Audio Updates

  • Conditional ambient sounds added for different block interactions (e.g., raindrops on windows)

Players will notice a more immersive audio experience, especially in social and adventure servers.

  • Creative Tool items may be marked as 'Technical'
  • Bug report tool updated with 'Tools' category
  • Localization cleaned and extended
